Hello, I'm Julia Mitchell. I split my time between Texas and California, supporting amazing families who seek overnight care for their little(s) during the first three to six months of life. I have been obsessed with babies since I was a baby. At any event, you can always find me with a friend's kid on my hip.
My experience with children started with teaching art workshops with my grandmother in Los Angeles, to traveling the world, supporting families as a full-time travel nanny. After years of nannying, I knew deep down inside that there was nothing more rewarding than guiding families to success with their newborns and watching them thrive.
When I founded Mitchell Newborn Care, I wanted to create a positive experience for families during their postpartum phase. When most families hear about sleep conditioning aka sleep training, there's a stigma behind it that the process has to be hard on both babies and their parents. With a gentle technique and consistency, I can create a safe and calm environment during our time together.
Newborn Care Specialist are trained professionals that aid parents in getting their newborns adjusted to their brand new lives. I assist with all aspects of overnight newborn care including but not limited to the following: swaddling, burping, soothing, changing, bathing, baby laundry, feeding (breastfeeding or taking over bottle feeding), healthy sleep conditioning/training and overcoming obstacles associated with tongue-tie, reflux, and colic.
Mitchell Newborn Care offers an array of services including; overnight care, travel, and 24-hour support. Terms vary in length between 12 weeks and six months; on average families hire me for approximately 14* weeks (or until their baby is successfully sleeping through the night).
In addition to supporting families postpartum, I offer a personalized, hands-on class before baby arrives called “The Baby Manual” where we cover everything you need to know to help you and your baby thrive during year one. We cover topics including, but not limited to: breast and bottle feeding, soothing, bathing, diapering, sleep schedules, and car seat safety! The class is held at your home.
